Studio Strobes

First foray into studio strobes / lighting Continuous?
I just got a Canon 40D, camera great … now I want to start taking some pictures … I have a 2 strobe or continuous lighting kit with a couple of soft boxes …. here are my questions 1. How does a strobe light system compared to a continuous lighting system? 2. Tigger How does my camera strobe lights, no connection cable sync on the 40D? 3. What advantages / advanced amatuers recommend in terms of lighting?
1) Different people have different preferences, but I prefer flash for portraits. Students do not stay small, and the theme strain of constant brightness. 2) You have the synchronization connection on the side, under the or rubber shoe. Be careful what is given to the camera mode voltage, you do not want to burn your system. Perfect Ebay radio slaves sold very cheaply. 3) Totally agree with alien bees … and will not damage your camera connected directly. Personally I would buy the strongest power you can for your first light .. you can always check with ease at a lower brightness, but it's good if you do a family group. With a digital meter jump and get a gray card … relations may even feet above them.
